Leadership Tip of the Month💡
A Simple Shift: Start with "I," Not "Why"
When addressing a challenging situation, resist the instinct to ask "Why?"—which can sound accusatory. Instead, begin with "I" statements to focus on observation rather than blame.
Try:
🔹 "I’ve noticed…"
🔹 "I see…"
🔹 "I hear…"
Then, describe the behavior objectively and invite dialogue by asking, "Help me understand..." This approach fosters openness, reduces defensiveness, and encourages productive conversations.
Tough Conversations Made Easier 🔑
